The basket test is not 100%, Lady Luck can also play a big role. The "Schalieblauwe" of the Janssen Brothers Arendonk (from Cas Goosens and not from Schoeters) was a very poor racer and was lost, picked up/retrieved in two separate occassions when the "Schalieblauwe" was basketed. But in the breeding loft, he proved to be a Golden breeder. His blood is still present in almost all Champion Janssen based birds all over the world. The reverse could have happen if the Janssen Brothers decided to cull "Schalieblauwe" since he did not pass the basket test. Just something to ponder.
