Symptoms
I. Worms
a.. Indigestion
b.. Loss of condition and performance
c.. Loss of weight despite a good appetite

2.Coccidiosis
Its due to poor loft conditions,contaminated food and water
a.. Indigestion
b.. Watery droppings
c.. Secondary infections
d.. Delayed growth of young pigeons
3.Canker (Trichomoniasis)
A yellow cheesy substance, generally seen in the mouth, however 10%
of Canker is external, while 90% is internal. Breaks out at any age, also in youngsters still in the nest. It is caused by
a flagellate, living on the mucous membranes of the throat and the crop.
a.. Bad flying performances
b.. watery droppings
c.. Respiratory problems
d.. Yellow desposit in the beak
e.. Growth recession and loss of shape
f.. Damaged liver
4.Paratyphoid (Salmonella)
Paratyphoid can be caused by unsanitary conditions and the contamination of feed by rodents. It also can occur
when introducing new pigeons into the loft, without checking first if they are healthy. Before putting new pigeons
into the loft, isolate and observe them for 5 days and put them on a preventive medication.
a.. Intestinal infection with green and watery droppings.
b.. Swelling of the joint of the elbow or heel.
c.. Decreased fertility
d.. Disturbed balance and paralysis.
e.. Increased death of nestlings and recently weaned youngsters.
5.Paramyxovirus
a.. Increased drinking
b.. Watery droppings
c.. Twisting of neck and head
d.. Shock reaction
e.. Disturbed balance
f.. Pecking next to the food
6.Mycoplasmosis
a.. Mucopurulent discharge from the nose
b.. Reduced flying performance, unwillingness to fly ,flying awkwardly
c.. Throat inflammation
d.. Rattling and wheezing sound of respiration particularly noticeable by night
e.. Air sac inflammation
7.Streptococcosis
a.. Limping,joint swelling
b.. Bad flying performances
c.. Loss of weight
d.. Nervous symptoms
e.. Abscess in the pectoral muscle
f.. Hanging of one or both wings
g.. Sudden death from pigeons of different ages
h.. Green slimy droppings
8.Ornithosis
It is caused by chlamydia psittaci.
It can be transmitted to humans,so wash the hands thoroughly after handing the birds
